{"id":27901,"date":"2025-08-01T14:38:14","date_gmt":"2025-08-01T06:38:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ulm.ac.id\/en\/?p=27901"},"modified":"2025-08-15T14:53:50","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T06:53:50","slug":"impactful-community-service-program-ulm-fpik-students-introduce-mackerel-dimsum-to-prevent-stunting-in-sebamban-baru-village","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ulm.ac.id\/en\/2025\/08\/01\/impactful-community-service-program-ulm-fpik-students-introduce-mackerel-dimsum-to-prevent-stunting-in-sebamban-baru-village\/","title":{"rendered":"Impactful Community Service Program: ULM FPIK Students Introduce Mackerel Dimsum to Prevent Stunting in Sebamban Baru Village"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TANAH BUMBU \u2013 Students from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), participating in Group 2 of the Thematic Community Service Program (KKN-T), conducted a socialization campaign to promote the &#8220;Love Eating Fish&#8221; program and training in making mackerel dimsum at the Nusantara Dermaga Integrated Health Post (Posyandu), Sebamban Baru Village, Sungai Loban District, on Tuesday (July 29, 2025).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This program aims to improve children&#8217;s nutritional intake, prevent stunting, and provide new skills for the community. The innovative mackerel dimsum was chosen because it is high in protein and omega-3 fatty acids, yet still has a savory and soft texture, making it more easily accepted by children who dislike the taste and aroma of seafood.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The activity received full support from various parties, including the Sungai Loban Sub-district Head, Agus Salim; the Sebamban Baru Village Head, Huri Alianor; and the Babinsa (village supervisor) of Sebamban Baru Village, Heru Iswandi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;We appreciate the initiative of ULM students who are able to provide a program that directly benefits the community. We hope this activity can be sustainable,&#8221; said Agus Salim.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to introducing the benefits of fish for child development, the students also conducted a live demonstration of dim sum processing, from ingredient preparation to hygienic cooking techniques. This training was attended by mothers with children at risk of stunting, with the hope that the skills learned can be applied at home to prepare nutritious meals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently, dim sum is more popular with chicken, shrimp, or beef fillings. Through this innovation, ULM students aim to expand the variety of fish-based foods while encouraging the community to utilize local fisheries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This outreach is part of ULM&#8217;s Impactful Community Service Program (KKN-T) in Sebamban Baru Village.
