This year, the 2025 program will take 49 students to three international destinations: Jakarta, Singapore, and Malaysia, with the theme &#8220;Heritage and Sustainable Architecture.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Participants are students of the ULM Architecture Study Program, fully facilitated by the university, accompanied by the Head of the Architecture Study Program, Dr. Eng Akbar Rahman, Ph.D., and a team of supervising lecturers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year&#8217;s theme focuses on two main aspects: the preservation of historic buildings (heritage) and the concept of sustainable architecture. Students are invited to learn how to maintain old buildings, understand spatial planning policies, and observe the implementation of sustainable development in developed countries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Several key agenda items included visits to the National University of Singapore (NUS) campus, government projects at the Singapore City Gallery, and explorations of old city areas that represent historical heritage in the three destination countries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Studex 2025 took place mid-year and included a series of study trips from Banjarmasin to Jakarta, continuing to Singapore, and concluding in Malaysia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Head of the ULM Architecture Study Program, Dr. Akbar Rahman, explained that this activity was part of a field-based learning program designed to strengthen graduate competencies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Participants were invited to understand how other countries preserve architectural heritage while building a sustainable future. Indonesia also needs to continue learning about urban governance to compete globally. However, it is important to modify and adapt concepts to local conditions,&#8221; he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ULM played an active role as the organizer and facilitator of the program, from planning and selecting destinations and developing the field curriculum to mentoring students throughout their studies.
