Banjarmasin \u2013 The Student Press Institute (LPM) INTR-O, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University held the annual INTR-O Press Week (IPW) Volume II. This year, the event carried the theme “Digital Journalism, Staying Wise in the Era of Artificial Intelligence (AI)”, with the aim of encouraging students to understand the role and challenges of digital journalism amidst the rapid development of technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

The activity was opened with Journalist Development Training (JDT) which was held at Wetland Square Banjarmasin, Sunday afternoon (6\/22\/2025). This training session was designed to shape students’ skills as young journalists in the digital era 5.0, as well as introduce the ethical boundaries of using artificial intelligence technology in the journalistic process.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the main speakers, Dr. Sri Astuty, S.Sos, M.Si, who is a ULM lecturer and also the MAFINDO Coordinator, delivered material entitled “Checking News Facts, Fighting Hoaxes in the AI Era”. In her presentation, she emphasized the importance of journalistic ethics, analytical skills, and a human touch in dealing with the flood of information that is often manipulated by technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We want students to understand how AI works as a tool, not a replacement, and to realize the importance of validating information before it is disseminated,” she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Berta, Chair of the IPW Volume II Committee, this activity aims to make students more familiar and wise in utilizing AI, especially in digital news production.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We hope that participants can recognize and use AI tools critically, without losing the basic values of journalism,” she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The training was enthusiastically welcomed by dozens of participants from various campuses and departments. They not only listened to the speaker’s presentation, but also participated in direct practice to apply the material provided.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the participants, Nur Karomah, expressed her impression, “I understand better how to distinguish between AI-made writing and human writing. This is a very relevant science for today.”<\/span><\/p>\n

INTR-O Press Week Volume II will last for seven days, and will be continued with a Discussion Forum and Journalistic Works Gallery Exhibition on June 27\u201328, 2025. Through this activity, LPM INTR-O seeks to build student awareness about the importance of intelligent, critical, and integrity-based digital journalism in the midst of the era of information disruption.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
