Financial Literacy Seminar Increases Understanding of Insurance and Pension Funds<\/b><\/p>\n
Banjarmasin \u2013 The Faculty of Economics and Business, Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) in collaboration with the Indonesia Financial Group (IFG) held a seminar entitled “Basic Literacy and Introduction to the Insurance and Pension Fund Industry” at the Lecture Theater Building, Lambung Mangkurat University, Friday (11\/29\/2024). This seminar aims to increase financial literacy and public understanding of the importance of insurance and pension funds.<\/span><\/p>\n This event was attended by at least 200 students from various universities, including UNISKA, Banjarmasin College of Economics (STIE), Banjarmasin National College of Economics (STIENAS), Banjarmasin Polytechnic, and the ULM Faculty of Economics and Business.<\/span><\/p>\n The Dean of the ULM Faculty of Economics and Business, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yunani, M.Sc., stated that an introduction to the insurance and pension fund industry is very important, not only for students’ professional careers but also for their personal lives.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAs a higher education institution, we have a responsibility to equip students with a strong understanding of various aspects of economics, including risk management through insurance and future planning through pension funds,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n Prof. Ahmad Yunani also thanked the speakers from IFG who took the time to share basic knowledge related to insurance and risk management.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cHopefully, with this activity, students and lecturers will better understand the importance of insurance, be it life insurance, vehicle credit, housing, and others. They will later become part of the demographic surplus that needs security in investing and owning assets,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n IFG Senior Research Associate, Ibrahim Kholilul Rohman, emphasized that financial literacy is the first step towards financial independence.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cBy understanding the function of insurance and pension funds, the younger generation can prepare for a more stable and planned future,\u201d he said. He also emphasized the importance of public understanding of non-banking financial instruments such as insurance and capital markets.<\/span><\/p>\n This seminar not only provides theoretical material, but also involves participants through question and answer sessions and case simulations to provide a real picture of how the insurance and pension fund industries work in everyday life.
